Process(verb): Any operation or set of operations performed upon personal information, such as collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval,consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction by manual or automated means.
Personal information: Information which you provide to us which personally identifies you such as your name, phone number, images, location and route information and in some cases billing information or other data that can be reasonably linked to such information by Kikao or any of our other applications that link here.
Controller: The main decision maker. They exercise overall control over the purposes and means of the processing of personal information.
In this Privacy Policy, data and information are used interchangeably.
When you use our services, Kikao will set up an account using the provided sign-up process. Services are only accessible to authenticated user to prevent fraud and misuse. Kikao will collect and use your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Your sign-up details are your responsibility and you are fully accountable for any use or misuse of your account and personal details as a result of conveying your sign-up details(for example one time code, phone number pair if using phone number authentication) to someone else.
Kikao collects the following information:
Authentication data. Information required for account setup such as a Phone number.
Username and or profile picture. When interacting with certain app features such as the recommendation feature(sharing house details), username and profile picture help other users to easily identify you if they do not have your contact information in their contact list.
Geolocation data. We may request access or permission to track location information from your device either continuously or while you are using Kikao to deliver location based services. We may use GPS and other technologies such as carrier information or Wi-Fi to collect geolocation data depending on your device type and settings. Location information may be collected in these contexts:
Geolocation data in tenant mode: we collect precise or approximate location data for route and waypoints calculations, house search and navigation purposes.
Geolocation data in landlord mode: we collect precise or approximate location data when adding or updating house and/or office details.
You can opt out of location tracking by refusing location tracking permission requests or revoking previously granted location tracking permissions on your device settings. Note however that location tracking permissions are essential for delivery of location-based services.
Phonebook(Contact list). We may request access or permission to read your contact list. We only collect numbers in a form that is anonymous to Kikao; This information will be used to find and create lists of other Kikao users who you may know and with whom you may wish to interact with. Use cases include augmenting information displayed when using certain app features such the recommend houses feature. If you wish to revoke these permissions, you may do so on your device settings.
We collect information about the use of the Services and information from the device you have Kikao installed on. For example: Kikao may collect information about navigation or ridesharing apps that Kikao can link with(initiate navigation); information about the interaction of your devices with our Services, including, crash reports, system activity, and date and time.
Account administration. Account creation, management and authentication.
Service delivery. We use your personal information to deliver our services based on how you interact with our services' features. For example your location information to deliver location based services such as best route and house/office visitation order calculations or house search.
Communicate with you We may send you push notifications regarding your account, certain app features, updates and notices or additional information related to our services. You may opt out of receiving these types of communications by turning them off in your device settings or in preferences.
Performance measurement, maintenance and services improvement. We use your information for analytics and measurement to understand how our services are used and to ensure they are working as intended, troubleshoot issues and make improvements.
Develop new services. We use the information we collect in existing services to help us develop new ones.
To exercise our monetization policies. e.g. checkout or in-app ads.

We will ask for consent before using your information for a purpose that isn't covered in this Privacy Policy.
You can decide whether or not to upload content to the services. Any content that you choose to share and submit for posting in public areas of the service is neither private nor confidential and may be viewed by all users and may be made publicly available outside the services in perpetuity. For example users may take screenshots or screen recordings and share them outside Kikao. When posting house and or office contacts details, consider using different contact details than your personal contact details as this information is meant to be visible to all users of Kikao.
Username, profile picture and phone number will be visible to your contacts that also use Kikao and to other users with whom you recommend houses(recommended by).
With your consent. We'll share personal information outside of Kikao when we have your consent.
Kikao may share information in certain situations with the following third parties:
Vendor, Consultants, and other Third-Party Service providers. we may share your information with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors or agents('third parties') who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to such information for business purposes. These services may link to third-party websites, online services or mobile applications or contain advertisements from third-parties that are not affiliated with us. Accordingly, we do not make any guarantee regarding any such third-parties and we will not be liable for the loss or damage caused by the use of such third-party websites, services or applications. You should review the policies of such third parties.
We may also need to share your personal information in the following situations:
Business Transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
Affiliates. We may share your information with our affiliates, in which case we will require those affiliates to honor this privacy notice. Affiliates include our parent company and any subsidiaries, joint venture partners, or other companies that we control or that are under common control with us.
Business Partners. We may share your information with our business partners to offer you certain products, services or promotions.
Legal compliance. We will share personal information outside of Kikao if we have good-faith that access, use, preservation, or disclosure of the information is reasonably necessary to: comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable government requests, enforce applicable Terms of Use and potential violations, detect, prevent or address fraud, technical or security issues.
You can review and update your information by visiting you account details in a in-app page/location. You can also delete your information by using the “delete account” function on the in-app account details page/location. When we receive an account deletion request, we will use reasonable effort to delete such information, however note that information may not be deleted immediately and the process may take up to 3 months to complete. Issues such as routine maintenance, unexpected outages, bugs, or failures in our procedures may cause delays in the processes and time frames defined in this policy. However we may retain some information to prevent fraud, assist with investigations, enforce our legal terms and/or comply with applicable legal requirements.
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and applications include a setting to indicate your privacy preference not to have your online activities monitored and collected. This setting is commonly referred to as Do-Not-Track. The technology used to implement this setting is not yet standardized across browsers, operating systems and applications and as such it is hard to enforce this feature. We therefore do not currently respond to Do-Not-Track signals from mechanisms that automatically communicate your choice to not be tracked online. We will however implement this feature when it becomes standardized and update you about our practice in a revised version of this privacy notice.
We will keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy notice unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. No purpose in this notice will require us keeping your personal information for longer that three months past the idle period of the user’s account. When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymise such information or if this is not possible(for example because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from further processing until deletion is possible.
Cookies are small text files that are stored on browsers or devices by websites, apps, online media, and advertisements. We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies like web beacons and pixels on the Services for purposes of authentication and preferences and settings. We may also allow others to provide audience measurement and analytics services for us, to serve advertisements on our behalf across the internet, to track and report on the performance of those advertisements and to delivery services such as mapping based on cookie-enabled map APIs. These entities may use cookies, web beacons, SDKs, and other technologies to identify the devices used by visitors when visiting online sites and services.

We consider an individual under the age of 14 a child. Consult local laws and customs for the definition of a child. We do not knowingly solicit information from or market to children. Our services are mainly targeted at adults. It is the resposibility of a parent/guardian to supervise a child's use of our services.
Relusion Limited is the data controller for the personal information collected in connection with Kikao services. Kikao operates and processes data, globally. We may transfer such data to countries other than the one where our users live or use Kikao services. This decision is influenced by many factors such as product and service availability only in certain data centers(regions and zones), proximity to most users to reduce latency, data center carbon footprint, pricing among others. The exercise of data protection rights can be directed at Relusion Limited.
We regularly review this Privacy Policy and make sure that we process your information in ways that comply with it. We do not discriminate against you if you exercise your privacy rights. Our practices are subject to applicable laws in the places in which we operate. This means that we engage in the practices described in this notice in a particular country or region only if permitted under the laws of those places.
In some regions(like the EEA, UK, Brazil, California and Canada), you have certain rights under applicable data protection laws. These may include the right to: request access and obtain a copy of your personal information, request rectification or erasure, restrict the processing of your personal information and if applicable, to data portability, in certain circumstances to object to the processing of your information.
